Our client is an innovative New Space company based in Toulouse, France, focused on developing cutting-edge space technologies and optical payloads for space applications.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with a background in Optical Payloads to join their team.
What You’ll Do:

  • Lead optical payload system design and development, from early prototypes to space qualification.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between our team and external manufacturers, integrators, and suppliers.
  • Conduct trade studies and system performance analyses to optimize the optical payload.
  • Define and manage technical requirements to meet stringent space-grade standards.
  • Work closely with mission architects, thermal engineers, and AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) teams.
  • Support environmental testing, calibration, and validation processes.
  • Contribute to risk assessment, failure mode analysis, and mission success strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in Optical Design & Engineering, with experience in space-based optical payloads.
  • Systems Engineering experience, particularly in managing external partnerships for payload development.
  • Proficiency with optical design tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V, COMSOL, or MATLAB).
  • Experience working on projects involving Optical Payload Engineering from Proto-type to launch.
  • Solid understanding of space environment constraints, including radiation, thermal, and mechanical factors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with adaptability to evolving project needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (French is a plus).
