Location: France (with relocation assistance)

NewSpace Technical have partnered with a growing international Space Company, to help scale their Engineering and Manufacturing facilities in France!

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled R&D / Product Development Engineer to join the Technical Department. This is a fundamental position as you will be overseeing the development of subsystems for optical ground stations from prototype design through to full industrialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and industrialization of subsystems for optical ground stations.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to establish clear specifications and ensure all client requirements are fulfilled.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from prototype design to mass production.
  • Ensure smooth transitions from development phases to industrial-scale manufacturing.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical analyses, and optimization of subsystems.
  • Collaborate with other Systems Engineers to define specifications and ensure that client requirements are met, contributing to the development of state-of-the-art systems for optical communication.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges by applying innovative solutions to system designs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations throughout the development process.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Engineering, ideally in Optics, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in the technical development of complex products or systems within an industrial setting.
  • Strong expertise in both prototyping and the transition to industrial-scale production.
  • Proficiency in systems and subsystem design, particularly for highly technical, engineering-driven environments.
  • Knowledge of optical systems, including laser communication technology, is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines and manage development projects from start to finish.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
