Do you want to be part of an innovative New Space company influencing the future of satellite communications?

We are seeking a talented Optical Engineer to join our client’s growing team in France.

As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical communication systems for satellite and ground applications. Your work will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of space-based free-space optical links.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize free-space optical communication systems for satellite-to-satellite and satellite-to-ground links.
  • Develop and implement optical beam alignment and tracking mechanisms.
  • Conduct simulations and experimental validations of optical link performance.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, RF engineers, and software developers to integrate optical systems into spacecraft payloads.
  • Evaluate and select advanced optical components such as lasers, photodetectors, and beam-steering mechanisms.
  • Support the development of laboratory and field tests to validate system performance in real-world conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with space industry standards and environmental constraints.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in free-space optical communication, laser systems, or adaptive optics.
  • Experience in optical system design, modeling, and analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, COMSOL, or similar).
  • Knowledge of optical tracking, beam steering, and atmospheric turbulence mitigation.
  • Understanding of space environment constraints and experience with space-qualified optical components is a plus.
  • Proficiency in experimental optics and hands-on laboratory work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative startup environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in French is an advantage.

What’s on offer:

  • A unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking space communication technologies.
  • A fast-paced and collaborative startup environment where your contributions have a direct impact.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Career growth opportunities in the space industry.

If you are ready to be part of a visionary space venture and contribute to the future of optical satellite communications, we would love to hear from you!
