My client is seeking a AI/ML Engineer to develop next-generation Non-Terrestrial Network – Terrestrial Network edge devices with AI-driven predictive network switching and software-defined networking architectures. This is a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of space-based mobility connectivity, helping to shape the future of seamless, intelligent telematics solutions.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing intelligent network solutions that seamlessly integrate satellite, cellular, and terrestrial networks for land mobility applications. Working directly to with the CTO, you will collaborate across a variety of teams to develop AI-driven predictive switching and routing algorithms, ensuring an exceptional user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of next-generation telematics edge devices, seamlessly integrating Non-Terrestrial Networks and Terrestrial Networks.
  • Implement AI/ML/DNN/CNN models to enhance network intelligence, enabling predictive handovers, adaptive bandwidth management, and intelligent network selection.
  • Architect and develop Software-Defined Networking solutions, optimizing dynamic traffic routing and resource allocation across hybrid NTN-TN environments.
  • Engineer high-availability, low-latency connectivity solutions, working with a mix of 4G, 5G, LTE, and satellite networks (LEO/MEO/GEO) to ensure seamless mobility.
  • Ensure high throughput and power efficiency for telematics edge devices, balancing performance and sustainability in mission-critical applications.
  • Work in close collaboration with hardware, software, and AI teams, contributing to a cross-functional development process and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Define and articulate the value proposition of AI-powered network solutions, supporting the commercial team in translating technical innovations into customer benefits.
  • Act as the primary technical lead for AI-driven algorithm development and deployment, ensuring alignment across all customer-facing systems and use cases.
  • Continuously track and assess product performance, using data-driven insights to drive iterative improvements and future development strategies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in telematics, networking, or edge computing, preferably within the aerospace, automotive industry or transferable sectors like AI for embedded systems, autonomous vehicles.
  • Expertise in wireless communication technologies, including 4G/5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Satellite networks.
  • Hands-on experience in AI/ML-driven networking, with proficiency in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Ray RLlib.
  • Strong technical background in network protocols, routing algorithms, and edge computing frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and embedded software development, particularly for AI and SDN applications.
  • Experience working with IoT, embedded systems, edge AI, and cloud-based telematics solutions.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, project planning, and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
  • Familiarity with API integrations, cloud-based networking solutions, and end-to-end system architecture.
  • Must be based in Munich or willing to relocate.
